Never picked up a paint brush before? Afraid to advance past stencils?

Now is your chance to advance effortlessly to painting MURALS. Each mural is created on a 6 foot canvas. Due to our unique and highly acclaimed methods of teaching, NO DRAWING SKILL OR TRAINING IS NECESSARY TO PAINT A REALISTIC MURAL.

You will receive trompe l'oeil patterns, expert guidance, and color mixing instructions for every step.  By playing visual tricks, trompe l'oeil scenes can deceive the viewers into thinking they are looking at a three dimensional reality on a two dimensional surface.  Using only water-based paints, the scene will convey the illusion of reality.

The resurgence of painting wall murals is understandable since it is one of the easiest ways to express our creativity in an individual manner. Artistic people are so tired of the ever increasing uniformity of our surroundings. You don't have to attend our faux finish classes to learn Trompe L’oeil art such as columns, stone walls, moldings and even fabric can add character to a space stripped of architectural details. Flowers, trees, foliage, water and sky elements, can create a garden retreat and bring light into your home or office. Just as color sets the mood so does a Trompe L’oeil mural. FauxFilled Dreams mural courses are a complete, basic introduction to this popular decorative paint effect. The artist will receive step-by-step instructions on a one-on-one basis. These courses emphasize perspective elements, such as layering, color blending, shadowing, highlights, and all the elements needed to make your mural appear three dimensional.

FauxFilled Dreams faux painting school studio has a library of faux finish video tapes and books on murals and faux finishing for your use, providing page upon page of inspiration. A variety of magazines and photographs are also available.

Comprehensive Mural Course
MEDITERRANEAN VILLA PATIO
Four Day Course

NO DRAWING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY TO PAINT THIS MURAL!

This course is a complete, basic introduction to this popular decorative paint effect. The artist will receive instructions and step-by-step illustrations with emphasis on perspective. The class will focus on the detail of clouds and depth of stone.

Your completed 4 ½' by 6' scene will have a stone archway with a faux finished stone column, vines, tendrils, and a terra cotta urn. Stairs lead to a long swimming pool with a European flair. This beautiful outdoor setting is overlooking the ocean on a cliff. The background will be colorful clouds and a blue sky. The picture on the left is the project you will complete in the Missouri class.

The student will learn all the practical aspects of Trompe L’oeil, such as materials, equipment, preparation and design details. The techniques included are shadowing, highlighting, architectural details, blending color, depth, some faux finishing, mixing color, vanishing points and, most important, perspective.

This class will guide you through the basics of color theory. We will delve into the makeup of color, the language of color, how to mix color, how to shade color, how to highlight with color, and how to add depth with color. When you finish this class, you will know the meaning of hue, intensity, value, tone, tint, and the shade of color. We will discuss and play with cool colors, warm colors, neutral colors and glazes. Working with and understanding the difference between transparent, translucent and opaque colors will be covered in detail.
